Sr. Director of Mentoring
Jon Hull’s love for Christian radio goes back to 1976 where he got his start at WCVC in Tallahassee, Florida. His 40-year career has taken him all over the US and finally to the KSBJ team in 1996 where he serves as the Senior Director of Mentoring. Jon has been widely recognized by numerous publications like CRW Magazine, Radio & Records Magazine as well as the recipient of countless awards and accolades like the Scott Campbell Award, Major Market Program Director of the Year, and the R&R Christian Radio Programmer of the Year, just to name a few.
When he’s not leading KSBJ in its mentoring efforts, you’ll find Jon spending time with his family (his wife Karen, their two daughters, sons-in-law, and three grandchildren), gardening, cooking, and playing drums and percussion in his church’s worship team. After 40+ years of award-winning experience in Christian radio, Jon Hull’s service to the KSBJ team and to Christian radio in general cannot be overstated.
Director of Mentoring
As the Director of Mentoring, Heide Jones is responsible for helping to develop and maintain mentoring relationships while communicating KSBJ’s mission, vision and leadership on a global stage. She is also responsible for recommending ongoing strategies for growing the effectiveness of mentored stations and helping them to realize their spiritual, professional and listenership goals. In addition, Heide oversees KSBJ’s summer internship program.
She has a vast background in radio, having worked for HCBJ Global (which is now Reach Beyond) for 17 years before moving to Houston to work with the mentoring program at KSBJ. She serves on the Board of Directors for New Europe Communications and the National Religious Broadcasters International Committee. Heide also has served on the Christian Music Broadcasters Leadership Team for the past 15 years.
In her spare time, Heide loves to cook, read, watch movies & reality TV, travel and spend time with family which includes several nieces and nephews as well as two felines that keep her constantly entertained.
Larry Castro has had a wide range of careers since leaving college, from TV news to banking. He spent 4 years as a missionary with Reach Beyond (formerly HCJB Global) serving in Quito, Ecuador as a radio trainer. During that time, he also led a team in designing and developing a website for youth in Latin America which incorporates various forms of media.
Larry greatly enjoys working with the Mentoring team at KSBJ and specifically enjoys his work with radio stations that broadcast the message of Christ in Spanish. He looks forward to seeing how God will continue to use radio to spread the gospel and impact more communities around the world.
